Biography
Joseph Osborne is a nationally respected, top-rated mass tort and product liability attorney based in Florida. He began his legal career in a small office, working from a card table, and built his practice through discipline and focus. Joe spent 18 years as a partner at Babbitt, Johnson, Osborne & LeClainche. In 2015, he founded Osborne & Associates, which later became Osborne & Francis in 2018.
Joe is known for representing people harmed by defective medical devices, dangerous drugs, and corporate misconduct. He currently serves as managing partner and has helped grow the firm into one of Florida’s fastest-growing law firms. Today, Osborne & Francis operates offices in Boca Raton, Orlando, Lakeland, and West Palm Beach. His leadership and case results have earned the firm strong national recognition.
Significant Verdicts and Case Results
Joseph has secured major verdicts and settlements in high-profile mass tort cases. In 2014, he obtained a $26.7 million verdict against Boston Scientific for injuries caused by a defective pelvic mesh device. Each of the four clients received significant compensation due to product design failures. This case remains one of his most notable trial victories.
In 2017, Joe secured a verdict exceeding $2 million against Zimmer for a defective hip implant. He later served on an executive committee that helped achieve a $1 billion settlement in a major hip implant litigation. In 2023, Joe also began representing black farmers in claims involving USDA discrimination tied to a $2.2 billion federal fund.
Committee Leadership and Professional Recognition
Joe has served on multiple Plaintiffs’ Steering Committees and Executive Committees in national MDL litigations. These include cases involving pelvic mesh, hip implants, IVC filters, and pharmaceutical products. His leadership roles reflect deep trust from courts and fellow attorneys. He is an active member of the American Association for Justice and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is also a part of People For Law, a network that helps victims connect with experienced attorneys near their area.
Joseph has been recognized as a Super Lawyer from 2011 through 2024. He is also a Daily Business Review Lawyer of the Year nominee and a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100. These honors highlight his consistency, trial skill, and professional reputation.
Community and Personal Commitment
Joe believes in building each case around the client’s real-life needs. Early in his career, a major settlement allowed a brain-injured client, which turned into a heart condition, move into a custom-built home. That experience shaped Joe’s commitment to meaningful legal outcomes. He and his firm actively support local youth sports programs and community initiatives.
Outside of work, Joe is a dedicated family man. He enjoys spending time with his three children and staying involved in community activities. His work reflects both legal skill and genuine care for the people he represents.
