As the FDA deemed the NDMA levels low enough not to pose an increased risk of cancer, an immediate recall order was not issued. In April 2020, the FDA issued a formal recall of products containing ranitidine, such as Zantac. Combined with the high levels of NDMA, its ability to be easily absorbed into the human tissues may put individuals at an increased risk for cancers of— the stomach, esophagus, liver, kidney, small intestine, bladder, etc.
